Blessings

What the god fearing man sees as a blessing, a rational man declares as luck.

There’s a woman who looks upon a healthy and happy newborn child and thinks of the parents as blessed. There’s a man who has experienced great struggle and disappointment in his life, and through no specific effort of his own has found his situation reversed. Suddenly his life is filled with blessings and good fortune.

These people are either obliviously callous, or something else I can’t define for sake of feelings hurt. To assume a healthy child or a prosperous life is a result of some sort of blessing is to say that every ill child or life of misfortune is a curse.

Shame on them.

Blessings

  1. Adrian Turner says:

I tend to think that the ill child or life of misfortune, is a blessing that just hasn’t happened yet.

  2. That implies no one suffers indefinitely. That things always look up. We as humans look up or forward to fate changing, but for many it never does.

My point is, if the blessing never comes to fruition – then what was it? A curse or just life; an unlucky one.
