DC Politics
To address a couple tweets of mine about Adrian Fenty’s bid for reelection in Washington DC yesterday I thought I’d clarify my stance here. In short. I don’t live in D.C., anymore, and therefore can’t vote. Not able to vote, I haven’t read up or researched the candidates stances or plans for the future.
When bashing Adrian on Twitter or in passing conversation, it wasn’t a pledge of alliance to Vincent Gray. It was however a frustrated response to many not native DC residents refusal to acknowledge wide spread gentrification in my once beloved city, under Andrian’s leadership.
To say I don’t want my DC to change, economically or even ethnically would be a backwards and ignorant statement. What I do want however is for my city to not continue down it’s polarizing path. Cities should grow and evolve, but never outright change. Change involves removing something and replacing it with something you deem better. When what really needs to happen is that all the things in the city your unhappy with should be made better and improved, never “removed”.
In the end, do I think Gray is better suited to serve DC? No idea and that was never my point. Shouldn’t have to read between the lines much there.
